Mediterranean Diet

I want to talk about the Mediterranean diet.
We should follow it and make all our children also continue in the future as a source of health.
Nowadays, customs have changed and the influence of other food has affected us.
I remember when my grandmother spent most of the morning cooking. But we live in a world of haste, where we are always busy and can´t do that.
The Mediterranean diet is the food that for centuries, kept the people of the Mediterranean seashore healthy.
The reasons for these properties seem to be in monounsaturated fatty acids, present in olive oil, fish and the moderate consumption of red wine.

60%, or more than half of what we eat daily food must correspond to the group of carbohydrates.
The 15% are vegetables and fruits, both fresh and cooked.
15% complete with meat and fish provide us with protein.
10% are mostly fatty foods.
The main features of this diet:
-Olive oil as the main source of fat.
-Frugality: the quantity of food was low in relation to physical activity that was high, most of the population develops agricultural activities. Currently the activity is less developed and therefore, the amounts of food should be lower.
-High intake of fiber rich foods like fruits, vegetables, legumes and vegetables, the salads are present at every meal, and they end with fruit for dessert, most of the time. Legumes should be taken at least twice a week and at least three or four pieces of fruit a day.
-Neat and simple culinary preparations: boiled, broiled.
-Pasta and rice should take three to four times a week.
-Low consumption of protein foods like red meat, more fish and poultry.
-Use of products such as garlic or onions, and some species and aromatic herbs.
-We are generous in our salads with vinegar and use lemon and citrus in general. Orange is one of the favorite fruits of the population.
-Red wine in the main meals in moderate amounts.( a glass )
-Use lots of fresh and raw.

We have changed the way of life. And the diet has changed too.
The incorporation of women into the workplace.
There is no much time to cook, and the purchase is not made daily, and therefore greater consumption of fast food.
The number of rural residents has also decreased and the industrialization of food has greatly increased.
It is important to promote young people's knowledge of our kitchen as well as consumption of fruits and vegetables and the taste for exercise.
Avoid cholesterol and cardiovascular disease.
